So far behind

1 min read
Wow.  Wrote my last entry a year ago.  Very little has changed except that I replaced my tablet with a new one.

I did that which I thought I would NEVER do -- fanart.  Read the HP book the day it came out, and the next day did my fan art.  I won't do it ever again, but it was good to have something to focus on instead of constantly thinking about Harry Potter and how it's over.  Bleh.

Well, my Tablet is reformatted, and all pertinent drivers have been installed as well as the latest Adobe Photoshop, so I should be working my butt off.  But it's hot, and the kids are home for the summer holiday and need to be entertained, and about a hundred other stupid excuses.

I did a painting of St. Michael's Mount and sent it Stateside, but failed to take a pic of it, so maybe I'll finagle that and get it up.  It  wasn't at all the best I could do, so I might do it again.  Next week we head North to a cottage directly on Loch Ness where my girls will be spending every waking hour stalking Nessie.  I promised them that if they caught her, I buy them a puppy and they'd get their picture in the paper.

The breeze has thrown in about a zillion thunderbugs (thrips, the locusts of England), and they're in my hair and crawling all over me and giving me the most general of heeby-jeebies.  They are smaller than the smallest fruit-fly, but I can still feel them all over.  There aren't enough showers to combat them all!

So, we've been in the UK for 3.5 months now, and we've truly settled in.  The lack of sunlight is a bit oppressive.  If I had been a pagan living in England in a time before electricty and Sky TV, I too would have thrown the biggest party of the year on the day when FINALLY the days are getting longer.

I've spent all of the time here as a stay-at-home mom with no kids at home and an amazing lack of art supplies, and my tablet PC has been getting fritzy in the tablet department.  But finally our furniture and a whole mess of crap have arrived from the States, and I can reclaim my sanity and maybe create a bit of art.

The Great Move

2 min read
I'm going to use "Great" to describe everything today.

So, a few weeks ago, my husband was offered a job in the UK.  Since we have 2 school-aged children, I requested that we move there in time for the school term.  The authorities involved must have thought I was a total (great) lunatic, but they approved the request, and now we're scheduled to pack-out in 4 weeks.  So from the time when we were offered the job till the time we arrive in London is about 9 weeks.

I'm completely psyched, but then I'm also a bit terrified.  So much to do, so much to do!

Alas, I will not be taking my woodworking tools, so I'm back to whatever can be accomplished with a drill.  All my electric tools are being distributed to various parties as if I had died.  My router, in protest, fell to pieces.  Literally.

So I have posted some pics of my beloved table which I declared to my husband that I'm taking even if it means that we have to sleep on it.  It only weighs 200 lbs and requires a space of 10 x 15 feet (3 x 4.5 m).  :giggle:

What the heck!?

So today I wander in and I've had _22_ pageviews today.  I think my up-to-then record was 3 in a day.

I should submit something to CELEBRATE!
